For the love of literature!!!

So my second love would have to be reading, and I am proud to say that I have recently re-discovered my love for literature.

About 6 months ago I decided to rejoin the library. (Hey old school is cool!!.) and I have read quite a number of really good books. So I though what better conversation starter than to discuss our favourite books and authors.

Now I myself have never read a book by a man (don't ask me why not.) But I recently discovered this amazing author named Mike Gayle and the title of the book was "Turning 30." Now let me tell you this title practically screamed out at me. I mean with 30 approaching one of these fine years, it really got me thinking, and here are my thoughts.

I feel that by the age of 30 you have to have your life in order. Car (check). Married (check).  House (aah... working on that). Have a career (soooo far from that). What can I say? These are the things I think of late at night when I'm trying to fall off to sleep. Now I know there are so much more bigger, important issues i.e. poverty etc etc. But hey this is me and this is life.

This book was really fresh and honest. I loved the fact that the chapters were short and simple. No long descriptions about people, places and things. It was fresh and to the point. (This must be one of those "getting older" kind of things. I mean with being a mother and a wife time is really a luxury I don't seem to have much of.) Another of my favourite things was the way the book spoke about friends from school (God knows how I have held onto those friendship for dear life (lol)). And how it spoke about who/what those people were most likely to be  and what they actually turned out to be. (Makes me wonder what people thought of me when I was growing up).

To say I have no bad words to say about this book or the author is really the truth. I could not put the book down and even recently read another one of his books. Mike Gayle is really a breath of fresh air and I cannot wait to read more of his books.

So tell me what good books have you read recently and by whom. Why did you love it and would you reccomend it to others? Can't wait to read your comments. XoXo T.
