Book Club Corner - E.L. James - Fifty Shades Darker

Hi Guys,

It's Book Club Corner Time again. So grab your nice cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate and sit back and enjoy the second installment review.

After reading the first book and falling in love with it I just couldn't wait to read the next installment and started reading it immediately.

In the first book it ended up with Christian and Ana breaking up so the second one begins with that. The two of them are so heartbroken. Ana looses alot of weight because she stops eating because all she can think about all day long is Chrisitian. (typical of us ladies.)  But then he unexpectedly calls her up to offer to take her to her friend's showcase and the romance heats up again. Ana has also started a new job but finds her new boss a little too "friendly."

Ana then finds out that Christian has bought the company where she works which rattles her a bit. And one evening her new boss tries to come onto her but Ana manages to prevent anything happening and then Chrisitan fires him.

In this installment Ana gets to meet the lady who taught fifty how to be well... fifty. But the meeting is not a friendly one and the woman is actually quite hostile towards Ana. The good thing about this is that it sort of ends the friendship between Christian and her.

Ana also has to deal with being stalked by one of Christian's ex-submissives who also looks alot like her (OMG!!).

I don't want to give too much away otherwise that will spoil all the fun. But as always there is lots and lots of heated sex scences, alot of dealing with each other's different personalities but most of all lots and lots of love.

It is amazing to see how these two characters grow and how much Christian changes in order to please his woman. I have heard alot of people saying that in this book Ana becomes the dom while Christian becomes the sub. But I don't look at it that way. Aren't relationships about change and growth and compromise? Well for me this book is all that and so much more even if this is not the conventional way.

Once again E.L James has done a phenomenal job. You cannot fault her delightful way of writing or her innovative storyline.

I am now reading the third installment and trust me so far so good. Can't wait to end it so I can write my next review but also don't want to end it because I haven't gotten the new book yet :(

Happy reading guys!!!

Music Corner - Kanye West - Only One

Hi Guys,

Every now and then I find a song that I fall in love with and have it on repeat (much to my husband's dismay.) So I just had to share with you my latest find.

So as most of my friends and family know I am THE biggest Kardashian fan this side of the equator. And recently when watching one of the episodes I saw the making of Kanye West's video for "Only One." I didn't pay much attention to it but was intrigued by the fact that it was a video that included his beautiful baby girl, all shot on an iPhone. (Ey, technology hey!!!). But the icing on the cake was hearing about how the song came to be.

This song is about Kanye's mom coming to him in a dream and telling him how she feels. So because of that I just had to have the song.

My husband then downloaded it and when he put it on to play I was mesmerized. I had always heard Kanye was talented and one or two song's of his I have liked but I have never been a real fan. I have stood up and taken notice more of him because well he married my girl Kim (lol.)

The song title "Only One" is because Kanye was an only child.

There are no words to describe this song. Imagine having lost your parent and they come back to you to tell how proud they are of you?

My favourite line in the whole song is:
"I spoke to God about you.
He said he sent you an angel.
Look at all that he gave you, you asked for one and you got two."

Right there his mom is telling him that God has blessed him with so much. He wanted an angel and God sent him his wife but then also sent him his daughter.(2 angels.) That right there is poetry in motion. A real affirmation of love.

But she starts off the song by saying:
"Hello Mari.(His second name being Omari.)
 How you doing?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, cause I can see it.
So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it.
You'll be the man you always knew you could be
And if you knew how proud I was
You'd never shed a tear, have a fear No you wouldn't do that.
Hello my only one Hey, hey, hey, hey

I think Kanye has never actually realised how a great a man he has become.

His mom goes on to say:
"You'll be the man you always knew you could be
And if you knew how proud I was
You'd never shed a tear, have a fear No you wouldn't do that."

I think all of us, as children, want to hear that affirmation from our parents. More so if you have lost a parent.

I love this song, the meaning and every single lyric in it.

 Well done Kanye!!!!

 XoXo, T.

[Verse 1]
As I lay me down to sleep
I hear her speak to me
Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, cause I can see it
So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it
I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel
And look at all that he gave you
You asked for one and you got two
You know I never left you
Cause every road that leads to heaven's right inside you
So I can say

[Hook]
Hello my only one
Just like the morning sun
You keep on rising till the sky knows your name
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes

[Verse 2]
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Oh the good outweighs the bad even on your worst day
Remember how I'd say, hey, hey, one day
You'll be the man you always knew you would be
And if you knew how proud I was
You'd never shed a tear, have a fear
No you wouldn't do that
And though I didn't pick the day to turn the page
I know it's not the end every time I see her face
And I hear you say

[Hook]
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
You got the world cause you got the love in your hands
And you’re still my chosen one
So can you understand
One day you’ll understand

[Bridge]
So hear me out, hear me out
I won't go, I won't go
No goodbyes, no goodbyes
Just hello, just hello
And when you cry, I will cry
And when you smile, I will smile
And next time when I look in your eyes
We'll have wings and we'll fly

[Hook]
Hello my only one
Just like the morning sun
You keep on rising till the sky knows your name
Hello my only one
Remember who you are
No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes

[Outro]
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about
I just want you to do me a favor

Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me
Tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me...

Book Club Corner - E.L. James - Fifty Shades of Grey

Hi Guys,

So today I am doing another book review (my fave!!!).

Now this book has received many many reviews, and rightly so. I, myself, was quite hesitant to read it. It just isn't really the kind of book I normally read. And oh boy when the movie was released people just couldn't stop talking about it. So I just had to see for myself what the hype was all about.

The woman in my family all read the book before me and when I asked them to explain what the book was about it just made me even more nervous to read it. It just so wasn't me. It was unlike anything I had ever read or heard about.

So I started reading (with trepidation). And I was PLEASANTLY surprised. There was nothing "low classed" about it. The book was written so tastefully and eloquently. There was nothing pornographic about it. Yes the author goes into alot of explicit detail as to the sexual nature and going on's of  Christian and Ana's sexual relationship but that's what makes it that much more interesting.

It was so engrossing watching an innocent girl find herself and become a woman. It also shows us what great lengths we as woman go to please a man. She tries things she has never even heard of (I was even afraid for her) but evolves and starts to test her own limits. She falls in love with Christian who turns out to be so complicated.

It's a complicated love story. Ana falls for a man that you can only dream about (rich, good looking and intelligent.) But he comes with so much baggage and at the end of the book she realises that the baggage is too much to handle.

E.L. James has one helluva an imagination. How she came up with the "Red Room" and all those toys is beyond me. But cudos to you girl. (The research must've had it's up :) )

I would definitely recommend this book. It is a fun, interesting read and you just will not be able to put it down. And once you get to the end, you will not be able to wait to read the next one. (I just started mine.)

Good job E.L. James we look forward to reading many many more of your books
